A few weeks ago, my mom and I had a mama/daughter day. We went Cotants in Hastings to pick blueberries. It was such a fun day! Besides picking nearly 21 pounds of berries, the day open my eyes to how important it is to have one-on-one time with your kids no matter how old they get. I spend a lot of time with my mom, but usually one or both of my sisters are around, plus our kids, that day it was just me and mom. I really enjoyed it and it meant a lot to me.
Like I said, we picked nearly 21 pounds of blueberries, that we divided between the two of us. What did we do with all of the berries?! We froze some, Stella loves blueberries with her meals or as a snack, made yogurt covered frozen blueberries, pies, lemon blueberry bars, and jam!
Blueberries should still be ripe for the picking through the entire month of August. I plan on taking Stella yet this month, it's a fun and inexpensive activity to do with your kids. Plus you'll be all stocked up on a healthy snack!
